… but damn this name sucks. After my euphoria about Starcraft got less a little after calming myself with some hours of “The Moment Of Silence” I need to get my hands on some new gaming, soon. Really soon. I should finish “The Moment Of Silence” on Wednesday, hopefully. So all there is left to play is Dreamfall. Well… that one already got finished. But although I need some more gaming, there is something more important to be done. The laundry. Right, I have to play a game which is called “wash you clothes or you won’t have any clean ones next week” and you have to believe me – this game really sucks. Don’t bother asking me why, I will tell you: I do not own a washing machine which is why I have to go to my parents this weekend to wash and dry my clothes. Boooring. But finally I get to show Dreamfall to my parents then which raises my mood again.
I had a discussion with my parents before attending Games Academy in Berlin. This discussions topic was one of the kind any gamer really knows and dislikes. It was all about “there are no really intelligent games with some sort at the highest level out there”. Back then I really could tell them there were, but I couldn’t argue why. Some weeks ago I finally got my chance to apply the earned experience and skill to the old discussion of 2005 and succeeded. I stated that there are games which do not present the old and rusty image of Lara Croft like character and story but really intense and demanding storyline and characters. I asked them to do me a favor and try “Dreamfall – The longest Journey” and they agreed. My parents are not that kind of parents that likes to play games although my mother really is addicted to solitaire and sudoku. Well, the time has come to get gaming back into my family’s home again. Hail the immersion – let’s get it on! What I aim for is to play one game of Starcraft 2 either with my father or with my mother as soon as this game is released. We will, until the release is announced, play some other games, too. But Starcraft 2 will definitively mark the finish line.
If you guys out there have any suggestion which games we should play to prepare my parents to play, feel free to email your suggestions via the comment functions in this blog or via email to nadim@the-wise.net.
