A lot more to do…

Monday, January 29th, 2007

Sometimes a bunch of work isn’t enough. When I received a phone call this evening I agreed to help out a very desperate colleague who has to write the dialogs for his team’s storyline.

Working the bugs…

Friday, January 26th, 2007

Now, that content went alpha on the project, we I moved to bugfixing, especially the storyline ones. Job search has brought up some nice new opportunities, but I didn’t have the chance to reply to every one so far. I’ll do my best to keep up with the applications as I am working on the project.

It’s coming, I can sense it…

Tuesday, January 23rd, 2007

Ok everybody. Here at Games Academy Berlin I may be a lone wolf in this special topic. Nevertheless I will keep on trying to convince my collegues to take part in this years Winter-een-mas celebration. Even if work gets in the way a little, there will be a lot of time to “celebrate” and take time gaming.

Milestone ahead…

Monday, January 22nd, 2007

After writing my last post I already knew that this night will be one of the hardest ones this year had to offer so far. Several dialogs throughout the acts 1 to 4 need a little reworking.

it’s prime time, folks !

I can’t believe it. First I discover ABC’s series “Six Degrees” to be one very intelligent show with a nice twist to the standard. I just like the way of storytelling in this show. But then I got shocked a few weeks ago. The series is on “hold” till January, they say. Hm, so far not bad, at least if it returns in January. Now guess what, it already is January and still no sign of life from my favourite TV show. This is an alarming development. Especially after “Justice” was cancelled, too.

Another night shift

Thursday, January 18th, 2007

Today really blew my head off. When I came to the Games Academy, my team lead told me about several “minor” story changes he discussed with our producer. What they thought of as minor changes turned out to be very dangerous, as I see it. After getting a short overview of what I can change I discussed some of the more heavy changes and finally we found a solution which should give me the chance to get work done till sunday. (more…)

The long day is over now

Sunday, January 14th, 2007

Heyha everybody! It’s Sunday again and I just found the time to drop a little update on the page. If you wonder why I didn’t update during the week, here’s the answer: Game Critique.

We learned how to review several game design techniques, had some new interface design rules introduced and finally the best part: we learned on how to evaluate gameplay. Because the lecture was held within this week and one week last year, I didn’t update this site. So today is my only day off this week, so I thing I’m going to rework some storyline issues mentioned in my last team meeting and then finish the last sites of story writing for this project.

New week, new luck

Monday, January 8th, 2007

After working on my cover sheet and my resume for the last few days I head into the new week, knowing that I have to turn in my work till Monday evening which is, obviously, today. As I just discovered I already did everything I have to turn in before christmas… Lucky me !

Today I’m going to show my application to several tutors and professors to find out what could be tuned and send them to companies around the UK this afternoon.

For now, I have to  get back to work – just as you propably have to – and keep you posted on today’s team meeting if something arousing happenes.

Application time

Friday, January 5th, 2007

I spent thw whole day gathering contact adresses via the internet. After phoning about an hour or two with several game developing studios in th UK I nearly doubled my contacts.
Then I put more time into my resume and my cover sheet which are now ready to be revised and discussed tomorrow with my dear collegue André Beccú (www.beccu.de). So we will meet tomorrow morning to get over our applications and the numerous variations of cover sheets and resumes and finally we will end up putting together our portfolios. Then the first mails will be sent out to the first companies on my list so I can receive the answers (if there are any) somtime around next week, which would give ma an opportunity to reply to them at the end of next week. On the long run, I’m going to get some interview dates in the following weeks. Yeah, that would be nice. If you have any advice, you may comment this article.
